"WARNING!" |
Olive Higgins is one of the seven main characters of the series, the main protagonist of Love at Furst Bite and Purrgatory Furever, and a secondary character in Patches' Infurno. They're introduced as a socially anxious mutt attending Hachiko High School when an apawcalypse occurs.
Appurrance[]
Olive appears as a light red dog, with lighter toned paws, perpetually red cheeks and short peach colored hair that's soft and poofy in texture. Their ears are short and floppy and their tail is short. Their brows are perpetually furrowed, they have dark shadows under their black eyes as well as prominent eyelashes.
Purrsonality[]
At the start of the series Olive is socially awkward, easily flustered (especially by innuendos) and speaks with a stutter that is exacerbated by their emotional state. In spite of their social anxiety, they often try to lighten the mood with harmless jokes and puns. They constantly second guess their own actions and are very much a puppy-pleaser.
In the first game, the fear of dying alone drives them to seek the companionship they've always yearned for. Once out of school and surrounded by friends, Olive relaxes a bit and is far more outgoing and open about their affections. By the third game Olive becomes more of a caretaker than the one being taken care of.
They truly love and care about everyone, and when they are wronged, they're more disappointed than angry. That being said, they aren't afraid to throw a punch if it means showing a big meanie who's boss. Though their punches are as soft as pillows, the fact that a pure puppy like Olive even attempted physical violence speaks volumes about the perpetrator.
Purrfect Apawcalypse/Purrfect Apawcalypse: Love at Furst Bite[]
Olive is a scared mutt hiding in the closet at the back of their classroom. They exit to find their classmates have been brutally murdered by demon cats. They decide that if they're going to die, they'd like the company of a "special someone". They latch on to anyone they see, including Brownie, Sparky and Patches, and are easily swayed by whatever plans they have, including death by chocolate, saving the school from the cat demons and entering the basement only to be murdered. In the canon ending, Olive is convinced to survive.
They tag along as Brownie and Sparky break the water pipes to flood the school with demon-killing water, and eavesdrop on the cats in the basement. They follow the cats back to the classroom and avoid a suspicious Patches whilst doing so. There, Olive agrees to help Coco and Angel find his killer, who is none other than Patches. They find him in the basement and refuse to side with him, after which Angel possesses his body. Throughout the game Olive was intent on finding someone who could make them happy in their last moments, but they learn that making others happy is what makes everything worthwhile.
Purrfect Apawcalypse: Purrgatory Furever[]
Olive runs from a horde of zombies towards the Grimalkin Estate where Coco is hosting their 15th birthday! They help unravel the mystery behind the spooky events occurring at the house and using their pure intention to make everyone (including the zombies, Ginger and Patches) happy, they manage to save the day! Unfortunately, their kindness can't heal zombification.
Purrfect Apawcalypse: Patches' Inferno[]
A few days after the events of the last game Olive is now in charge of Patches, but considers him more of a friend with violent tendencies, rather than a bloodthirsty serial killer. They convince everyone to let him participate at the school events. Olive also tries their best throughout the day to make everyone as comfortable as possible. They cannot be killed in any route, except for the Impurrfect Ending, of course (where everybody except Patches gets killed), and are the main reason that Patches doesn't leave school grounds. Olive can be found in the literature room and the cafeteria until the day ends.
Trivia[]
- Likes: Hugs, holding paws, physical affection in general, chatting, hanging out, reading, bacon treats (the kind that look like plastic), milkshakes, raw meat, cute and comfy clothing, cute things (Very low standard for what is cute).
- Dislikes: Hurting others, getting hurt, loud toilets.
- Olive's non-binary gender fluidity is based off the creator Denny's own status as a non-binary genderfluid person in real life, although only using they/them pronouns as opposed to Denny using she/they.
- Olive is implied to be on the autism spectrum. They have trouble identifying tone such as sarcasm, they have a speech impediment/stutter, and in some sprites of the character one could argue that Olive is stimming (Repetitive movements of mostly the hands and tail).
- Olive comes from an average middle class household.
